- Register original works with the U.S. Copyright Office.
- Determine when a newly edited or updated pre-existing work should be reregistered with the U.S. Copyright Office.
- Collect evidence of infringement which can be used in court in the event an infringer is sued.
- Preserve evidence of independent creation of your company’s copyright protected assets to defend against claims of infringement by others.
- Create a series of procedures for use against infringers, putting them on notice of your company’s copyright in order to obtain voluntary cessation of the illegal activity, where appropriate.
- Determine when and under what circumstances it may be beneficial to consult counsel on the necessity of commencing suit for copyright infringement.
