Intellectual Property Audits

Many companies and business owners do not fully appreciate the value which intellectual property assets such as copyrights, patents, trademarks and trade secrets bring to a business, both in terms of dollar value and in providing the business with a competitive advantage in the global marketplace. The first step in reaching this appreciation is to identify all of the intellectual property assets your business may possess. Our Intellectual Property Audit is designed to uncover and identify your company's intellectual property assets.

In performing an Intellectual Property Audit, one or more of our attorneys will meet with you at your place of business. Our initial concern is to become acquainted with your business; to learn what you do and how and why you do it. Through this process we can begin to identify existing intellectual property assets. We then assess the importance of each of these assets to your business and make explicit recommendations on how to protect and exploit each asset to its fullest potential. Where appropriate, we will also make recommendations concerning the establishment of licensing, policing and enforcement programs designed to meet the unique needs of your business.

All of our findings and recommendations will be contained in a concise written report which will be fully reviewed with you and/or your management team. At the conclusion of our Audit you will be able to make informed decisions concerning the use, protection and exploitation of your company's intellectual property assets.

The scope of each audit is tailored to a client's specific needs and circumstances, and is performed at a fixed, pre-determined cost. Please call one of our attorneys if you have any questions or would like to discuss an intellectual property audit for your business.
